This film was the result of a multi-year design project with Google. Project Soli developed a new interaction sensor using radar technology, in order to find new kinds of interactions with products.

Immaterials: Satellite Lamps

Satellite Lamps reveals the invisible accuracy of GPS positioning across an urban landscape. Three lamps with built-in GPS receivers vary their brightness depending on signal accuracy, photographed over time to build a picture of how these signals behave in actual urban spaces.

Making Future Magic: iPad light painting

Made at BERG for Dentsu London, this film explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world. We use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, we play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up the stop-frame animation. More…
